British pop and RnB singer Leona Lewis’s ex-boyfriend has demanded a seven-figure pay off from her for helping her in her rise to stardom. Lewis, 25, had split from her childhood sweetheart Lou Al Chamaa last month. They had been pals since she was ten, growing up in Hackney before falling in love in their teens.
It has been claimed that the split was amicable but now Al Chamaa has insisted he is entitled to 1.5million pounds of the singer’s fortune for his contribution to her success. The singer has offered him their 600,000 pounds house in Hackney to make a clean break but the former electrician has refused and is demanding even more.He claims he owns rights to some of Lewis’ biggest hits after setting her up with producers and recording opportunities, and he also listed the fact that he filled in Lewis’ X Factor application form as evidence of his demand. “He believes he has played a huge role in Leona''s success. They have been together for more than ten years and he has encouraged her to fulfill her potential,” the Sun quoted a pal of his as saying.“He believes he has the rights of a common-law husband. He even filled in her X Factor application form and believes he then played a huge role in her success - not only as her partner but also professionally within his new position in the music industry. He claims he owns a piece of some of her songs and should benefit financially. She has offered him their house in Hackney but he insists that is not enough. It looks like it could get messy. It’s not like he is sitting at home in tears, though. The split was more on his terms and he is recently living it up in Miami,” the friend added.
